About Us

The Ohmies is an interactive musical health and wellness brand for preschool aged children. Through The Ohmies, preschoolers interact with a musical adventures based on a curriculum focusing on movement/physical activity, emotional development and social development. Children learn to identify their feelings, make friends, resolve conflicts, get along with their siblings, and to deal with anxiety. Moreover, The Ohmies focus on movement (and physical activity) as a basis for a healthy lifestyle.

The series features Bella Butterfly and her little brother, Carlin Caterpillar, two spirited, fun-loving creatures who live in Ohmland and allow their curiosity to send them off on adventures. Each adventure sends Bella and Carlin to new territory where they encounter new Ohmland friends, who must help them along their way.

While watching The Ohmies, the child viewer is encouraged to participate and play along with the unfolding adventure. In fact, the child’s participation is necessary for the plot to advance. Just when the Ohmies can’t fly high enough on their own the child audience steps in and flies with them, allowing the Ohmies to fly higher and higher. And … ta da! The Ohmies have flown over the gulch! Each movement or physical action that is introduced (mainly inspired by yoga poses) encourages the child audience to move, stretch, dance, and breath. Together with Ohmie friends, Bella and the viewer can learn to slither like Snake, hop far and wide like Grasshopper, and fly like a butterfly!

Bella and Carlin’s sibling relationship, as well as their friendships with the other creatures in Ohmland present a remarkable stage upon which to teach preschoolers about emotional and social development. Throughout The Ohmies, Bella and Carlin (and the others) often face additional challenges brought by their antagonists, The Worries. The Worries are hapless villains (who look like furry muppets) that come out when The Ohmies feel fear and anxiety. Just like most preschoolers, The Ohmies have fears and anxieties about everyday things such as visiting unfamiliar places and changing routines. When The Ohmies are distressed, The Worries appear! But never fear, after talking it through, everyone will work together to dance or laugh or sing those Worries away!

On every adventure, Bella and Carlin gain skills central to preschoolers, learning about themselves and the world around them. These skills will focus on helping preschoolers to develop positive skills for health and well-being.
